Abstract
This paper demonstrates the applicability of the identification method of Steiglitz and McBride (1965) to the identification of low-order linear models using time domain measured data from a power system simulator. It is shown that the identified linear models retain the essential dynamic characteristics of the actual system and are suitable for modal analysis and control design for damping low frequency electromechanical oscillations
