Abstract
Zigbee has been touted as a technology that can be embedded in a wide range of products and applications across consumer, commercial, industrial and government markets. However, given the varying requirements for applications in these sectors, we question if Zigbee can really satisfy the needs of these diverse markets. We performed several experiments using commercially available Zigbee software and hardware in order to determine several aspects concerning the reach and limitations of the technology. We analyze the results of our tests and show evidence of where Zigbee can be applied and where it is not suited for.
