Abstract :
In this paper, the voltage sag compensation performance by distribution static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) is presented. The DSTATCOM injects the current into the system so that the load voltage can be instantaneously compensated. The three types of current injection schemes are described. The voltage sag compensation capability by DSTATCOM with different configurations is explained and analyzed. Simulation results confirmed that DSTATCOM system with additional series inductor and energy storage can improve voltage sag compensation performance and reduce the compensator rating as well.
