Abstract :
ERIM has developed PSHE techniques for removing additive target support contamination from narrowband RCS measurements. These techniques have been extended to improve performance in the presence of noise, data artifacts and signal model mismatch by using adaptive decomposition techniques to isolate and identify target and contamination returns as part of the editing process. Tests on simulated data suggest that the adaptive technique can provide robust scattering mechanism identification and extraction in the presence of noise, and provide contamination mitigation performance comparable to that obtained by spectral variants in low noise situations.
