Abstract :
The photovoltaic power system for residential and building integrated application is sensitive to the mismatch of the electrical parameters due to the partial shadows, different orientations, variations of current- voltage characteristics of the photovoltaic panels. As a result, the yield of the system decreases remarkably, in severe cases, the hot-spot problem can arise and the photovoltaic modules can be irreversibly damaged. In order to improved the system performance and maximize the energy converter efficiency under the mismatch condition, a novel DC-module- based photovoltaic power system is proposed. Firstly the system configuration and advantages are described in detail, and then the suitable topologies are presented and evaluated, and finally some design considerations and issues on the performance of the system are discussed.
