Abstract
In the present paper, the effects of gamma-irradiation on the electrical breakdown stress of low density polyethylene (LDPE) are reported. Specimens of LDPE were irradiated in a 60Co γ-source at room temperature to various doses. The majority of the exposures were undertaken in air, but as a comparison some specimens were also irradiated in vacuum or nitrogen
