Abstract
A task can in principle be realized by different problem solving methods. A meta level reasoner can dynamically choose the appropriate method for realizing a task. This results in a flexible reasoning process. The paper discusses method properties, that enable meta level reasoning, along with reasoning examples. The application domain is diagnosis of technical devices
