Abstract
IEEE 802.11a/b/g are widely used standards for the WLAN applications operating at 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequencies and can support data rates up to 54 Mbps using OFDM and 64-bit QAM. The new standard, currently being developed, IEEE 802.11n allows data rates in excess of 600 Mbps and is based on multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) architecture. In this paper, we discuss various features of this new technology and analyze the design issues pertaining to the radio front-end of the transceiver using link budget analysis for a 2times2 MIMO transceiver
