Abstract
An algorithm to alleviate the effects of inter-symbol interference (ISI) encountered in single-carrier frequency-division-multiple-access (SC-FDMA) transmission is proposed in this paper. It forms small overlapping groups of transmitted symbols and performs maximum-likelihood (ML) search over these groups. In this respect, it transforms the detection under ISI problem into a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection problem. The proposed approach provides an SC-FDMA reception algorithm with scalable performance and complexity. Hence, it allows base stations to distribute computational resources among users according to their channel conditions. The performance of the proposed reception technique is demonstrated via simulations.
