Abstract :
The measurement of partial discharges (PDs) is a powerful and worldwide accepted method for determination of isolation conditions of high voltage devices. On the other hand, the increased application of PD-measurement in a noisy environment and on complex HV-equipments with superimposed PD-impulses from multiple sources leads to decreased sensitivity, data loss and consequently to misinterpretation of measurement results. These difficulties can only in singular cases and in very limited range be resolved by conventional frequency filters and extensive pulse-shape or pulse-sequence evaluations.
