Abstract
In rehabilitation medicine, it is necessary for medical staff members to recommend a suitable computer input device for each patient with spinal cord injury. In this paper, we propose a system to recommend the suitable computer input device for the patient. At first, we clarify the characteristics of the moving distance on the screen for each computer input device. Next, we estimate the necessary moving distance on the screen using our proposed software when a healthy subject operates the computer such as browsing of the Internet. And then we measure a moving area of hand by using CCD camera. It is useful for the medical staffs when they recommend the suitable computer input device for each patient by the characteristics of the device, the necessary moving distance, and the experimental measurements of the moving area.
