Abstract :
Settlement and deformation will occur in upper part of valley soft foundation area due to the embankment filling. And the stress and deformation will vary after the geogrid has been laid beneath the embankment. This paper compare the magnitude of settlement , the distribution of differential settlement, and the calculation of slope stability safety factor by FEM software for Geotechnical Engineering in two different cases which has reinforcement with geogrid or not. It indicates the geogrid reinforcement can reduce the magnitude of settlement and the differential settlement of embankment. The stability of embankment will increase, and the development of embankment deformation will decrease.
