Abstract
The authors describe current field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology from three perspectives: programming technology, functional block capabilities, and routing architectures. They sketch the following FPGA CAD issues: logic synthesis for FPGAs, placement and routing, and issues in the design of new FPGAs
