Abstract
We present an empirical study of the gradient and distance-dependent component mismatch effects in multi-bit SigmaDelta modulators. We provide suitable layout and addressing strategies that significantly improve the SFDR and SNDR of the modulator through reducing the INL of the feedback DAC. These techniques combined with the well-known dynamic element matching techniques, commonly used for oversampling data converters, enable us to address the mismatch and gradient issues for data converters.
