Abstract
Notice of Retraction
After careful and considered review of the content of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE´s Publication Principles.
We hereby retract the content of this paper. Reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper.

Decades later, the consistent efforts on historic town protection earn attention from government and academia. Now it´s clear about methods to protect both material and intangible heritage. Nevertheless, current protection still lacks combination of material and intangible heritage protection, which makes historic town protection lag in depth. Actually, cultural site is the link between material and intangible heritage. This study greatly analyzed the tough protection of cultural sites of ancient villages in northern Yunnan. So based on the ancient villages in northern Yunnan with distinctive historic resources, the study also discussed the current protection method of cultural sites and its next step.
