Abstract :
Brushless DC motors are rapidly becoming dominant type for precise motion control. A special type of brushless motor called the brushless DC limited angle torquer (BLDC LAT) or brushless DC limited angle torque motor (BLDC LATM) has been developed for limited rotation application. LATs have many of the advantages of brushless DC motors but without higher cost. This paper briefly describes the design and development of an efficient brushless DC limited angle torquer for the INSAT-2 Very High Resolution Radiometer (VHRR) Scan Mirror Mechanism. The performance tests for characterisation were carried out and the results are presented
