Abstract
ADEOS/IMG (Interferometric Monitor for Greenhouse Gases) measurements (temperature, water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3 )) have been compared with sonde observations to detect the difference between the ADEOS/IMG vertical profile data and the observations. In general, the vertical distribution pattern of the temperature and water vapor obtained by IMG were in relatively good agreement with the radio-sonde observations. However, it was seen that the ozone concentration measured by IMG is somewhat different from the ozone-sonde observations. Trace gases such as CO2, N2 O, CH4, HNO3, and CO obtained by IMG also showed quite a big difference from the reference values when compared with the vertical profile of US standard values (HITRAN). It is understood that, at present, IMG data cannot give accurate measurements of vertical profiles, but can give a general idea of the vertical distribution pattern of trace gases
