Abstract
The intent of this study is to provide statistics on Arctic lead width, orientation and fraction using a downward-looking passive microwave radiometer mounted on the underside of an aircraft during several flights over the Beaufort Sea during the autumn of 1994. The open water within each lead is examined through analysis of video images and infrared observations of the surface from the same platform
