Abstract
This paper analyzes the transient and the steady state characteristics of the TCSC by using state space analysis. The detailed characteristics of three operating modes of the TCSC are provided by using the proposed equations. In the transient state, the zero-crossing of the line current is not fixed because the conduction angle of the thyristor is asymmetrical. Thus, it is considered to obtain the accurate simulation results. Also, the simulation results when the zero-crossing displacement of the line current is considered and neglected are presented
