Abstract
The overall performance of IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN is examined with respect to the “hidden terminal” problem under burst-error channel conditions. Only the ad-hoc portion of the wireless network architecture, with stations generating time-insensitive asynchronous data traffic, is considered. The simulation clearly shows that both the burst-error medium and the hidden terminals have negative impact on the maximum achievable throughput and the delay. However, the channel fading tends to dominate the performance over the influence of hidden terminals, as BER increases
