Abstract :
In this paper an exact solution for the wave equation in lossy or lossless transmission lines when the input is a stochastic process, or when some of its characteristics are unknown, is presented. In this approach the input stochastic process may be nonstationary. In the first step, the general principles of the time domain approach for transmission lines with stochastic inputs are presented, and then as an example white noise is applied to the input of the transmission line. In this paper there is no restriction on the nature of the load, so it may be a nonlinear or time dependent load.
