Abstract
The availability of high quality TV signal sources and the widespread use of large screen picture tubes has created a necessity for improved definition TV (IDTV) and extended definition TV (EDTV) receivers. This presentation introduces a basic video decoding and processing system which provides setmakers with a starting point from which they can develop their TV set ranges to satisfy the diverse needs of viewers and market segments.<>
