Abstract :
The straw ethanol residue, a complex material, mainly consists of lignin and its derivatives. Lignin is a three-dimensional phenolic polymer and can be renewable and biodegradable, which has received increasing attention from research and utilization. The focus of this paper is to show the effects of straw ethanol residue on SBS waterproofing membrane properties. The results indicated that physical characteristics of SBS waterproofing membrane was significantly improved by adding 10-11% of straw ethanol residue which made its refractoriness, low-temperature flexibility and waterproofing quality improved 2.18%, 1.09% and 8.1%, respectively. Moreover, being environmentally friendly, the lignin could reduce the production cost at 8~9%.
