Abstract
In many Scientific and Technical endeavors a 3D object is to be reconstructed from serial 2D cross sectional data either to aid in the comprehension of the objects structure or to facilitate its automatic manipulation and analysis. The automatic reconstruction of 3D object using 2D Serial Cross Section data and Curves is presented in this paper. The 2D slices are created from Bezier Curve technique. The region of interest from the images is extracted from Edge Detection technique [4,7,12]. The extracted contours (region of interest) are stacked and linked with mesh to give a 3D shape. The missing slices are constructed using Dynamic Elastic Interpolation technique [9]. These slices are connected in a definite order and rendered using Phong Shading technique [4] for smooth and complete 3D object reconstruction.
