Abstract :
To investigate millimeter-wave radar backscattering characteristics of power lines, polarimetric backscatter measurements on a variety of power line samples are performed and a physical optics scattering model is developed. Using the polarimetric backscatter features of the power lines, caused by its braided structure, a detection algorithm for detecting power lines in a strong clutter background is developed and tested.
