Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the influence of leaf shape and dimensions on the backscattering of agricultural vegetation. Experimental data, collected at C- and L-band with AIRSAR & SIR-C, ERS-1, EMISAR and JERS-1, showed that the relations between backscattering of crops and plant water content have different have trends for narrow and wide leaf crops. Theoretical simulations confirmed that the different backscattering of crops with the same biomass can be due to geometry of leaves
