The author discusses the recent trends of a major US automotive manufacturer (Ford) for using burn-in of electrical components to improve reliability/quality and reduce end-of-line failures (warranty returns). A review of the criteria to eliminate burn-in (or reduction to sample burn-in) is presented. Also discussed are the process flow and testing procedures to meet these criteria
