  • Abstract
An implementation of the Hodgdon rate-dependent magnetics model is described, and it is demonstrated that the model is suitable for general-purpose circuit simulation. Several simulation studies using the Saber simulator are presented to demonstrate that the model correctly represents static and dynamic B-H characteristics, rate-dependent phenomena, and correct transient pulse response. The model demonstrates most of the important characteristics of ferromagnetic hysteresis. Results of the simulation studies are shown to be in agreement with manufacturers´ published data. Furthermore, observations concerning the Hodgdon model´s appropriateness for high-rate applications and high-squareness-ratio core materials are discussed
