Abstract
We propose and demonstrate a new visible light communication technology using optical beamforming. Optical beamforming is a technology to focus LED light on a desired target. Our experimental results show that the signal-to-noise ratio of the visible light communication can be improved by 13.4 dB using the proposed optical beamforming technology. We also propose an algorithm to detect the location of the target device based on the optical beamforming. We use a concept of direction code in the proposed automatic location-detecting algorithm.
