Abstract :
In recent years, VXI controllers have evolved rapidly due to improvements in PC and communication technology. Advances in PCI technology have resulted in better interfacing between desktop computers and VXI systems. Test and measurement engineers are presented with an increasing number of choices in the VXI controller market. New technologies have resulted in improved performance, lower cost and remote VXI controllers. An evaluation of VXI controllers to help the user determine their VXI controller needs is made. The focus is to present new developments in PCI, VXI, MXI and FireWire technologies that will help improve performance and lower the cost of VXI systems
