  • Abstract
GaAs integrated circuits are rapidly being accepted and designed into commercial/consumer application. In Europe and Japan millions of viewers are watching television via KuBand DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) receiver. With Direct TV DBS services to be launched in the U.S. by Hughes-Thomson in 1994, we expect GaAs integrated circuits to be used in this application as well. Cable television is now also using GaAs integrated circuits in CATV set top boxes to deliver high quality pictures to TV sets in the U.S. Wireless communications will undoubtedly use GaAs integrated circuits in the receiver and transmitter sections of cellular and cordless phones at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz
