Abstract
In this paper an intersection assistant, which is based on Inter-Vehicle-Communication, has been designed and implemented in a test vehicle. In addition to the development of the control algorithm and the definition of different technology layouts, diverse Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) have also been designed. Subjects with different age, gender and driving experience have been selected to evaluate the intersection assistant regarding safety enhancement, user acceptance and the assistance in the driver task as well as find out the most suitable HMI. Test results show that the system can assist the driver and improve traffic safety.
