Abstract :
A direct robust digital design for a benchmark problem in controlling buildings is presented. The structure considered is a scale model of a 3-story building employing an active mass driver. A simulation program has been developed and made available to test the efficiency and merit of the design method which will be based on discrete-time loop shaping with robust stabilisation via H∞ optimisation. The emphasis in the design will be to obtain a reasonably low-order controller, synthesised without resorting to complex loop shaping filters
