Abstract :
In MIMO-OFDM systems, antenna selection algorithms are used to find a subset of transmit antennas subject to channel variation, which provide the highest system capacity or the best BER performance with a given low computational complexity. In this paper, the optimum transmit antenna selection algorithm for MIMO-OFDM systems is firstly presented, then two suboptimum selection algorithms are proposed, and a computing-effective selection algorithm is finally developed. The algorithm segments OFDM subcarriers into groups, selects the best subsets for one representative subcarrier in each group and finally combines the selection results to obtain the antenna subset for an OFDM symbol. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed antenna selection scheme can achieve a capacity very close to the optimum case with a relatively low computational complexity
