  • Abstract
In recent years, secondary batteries with high energy density have been in demand as power sources for smaller, lighter and better performing portable electronic equipment. Here, the authors describe how lithium-ion rechargeable batteries have excellent performances as secondary batteries with high energy density, long cycle life and safety characteristics. In order to be best situated among secondary batteries, the detail how new technologies have to be conducted into lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Finally, they outline how they expect that such batteries will become widely used as power sources for apparatus such as portable electronic equipment
