Abstract :
We show that a model predictive controller is robustly stable on a linear plant if and only if some corresponding model predictive controller is nominally stable. Thus powerful nominal stability results can be used to analyze robust stability properties of model predictive controllers. We discuss how the results may be used to synthesize robust controllers. The effectiveness of this method is illustrated on an idle speed control problem
