Abstract :
A novel photo-controlled oscillator (PCO), based on the dual base transistor (DUBAT) without inductance is proposed, to realize the analog-digital transformation from light to electricity, for its linear ratio of the photocurrent to frequency. In this paper, the operating mechanism is analyzed and the equivalent circuit is proposed; experimental investigations have been performed on the PCO´s frequency characteristics, and the functional relationship between the oscillation frequency and the incident optical power is deduced. Because of the simplicity of the circuit and the compatibility with bipolar technology, the novel PCO has a large potential in SOC applications.
