Abstract :
An engine performance simulation model is set up in GT-Power, calibrated against experimental data, and utilized to optimize for the design parameters towards the performance target of a Turbocharged Gasoline Engine. The impact on engine performance parameters of with and without an intercooler is also analyzed. As well the suitable compression ratio is analyzed taking into consideration of engine knocking tendency. Simulation results indicate that turbocharging the engine could significantly boost the engine power and torque output, and all the other engine performance parameters could meet the design targets.
