Abstract
The methods belonging to the artificial intelligence field are becoming very popular within the power system domain. Within the literature several applications are highlighted: load forecasting, power flow computing, power flow optimization, network expansion. Distribution network expansion planning is tackled. The power flow is computed using conventional methods, but the optimal power flow and distribution network expansion are performed using genetic algorithms (GA). Thus, the authors have developed an own software-tool in Matlab environment. Case study refers to real, complex distribution networks.
