  • Abstract
    The low orbit global satellite system (GSS) for data exchange and communication Courier-1 is being designed and manufactured by a group of electronics companies within the ELAS Scientific and Research Company and a group of rocket-space companies headed by the COMPLM Scientific and Technological Company. The GSS is based upon a low Earth orbit satellite system network and is intended to provide low cost, reliable and high quality data communication services to anywhere from anywhere in the world at any time through small users terminals including portable terminals. GSS is based on the onboard and terrestrial equipment that has been developed by ELAS. The satellite group is to be deployed and supported through the START multipurpose transportable space launch system with the solid propellant launch vehicle based on the SS-25 ICBM. The report gives an idea of the general structure of the Courier-1 system and provides an overview of relations between different its units
