Abstract :
A novel method of modulation termed frequency domain reciprocal modulation (FDRM), originally developed by T. D. Williams, has been proposed to solve the problem of very fast dynamic multipath distortion in wireless communication environments. FDRM is an enhanced method which can be adapted to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In this paper, a simple mathematical model is derived to evaluate and compare the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) for FDRM in relation to single-carrier/OFDM systems. Simulation results show that both single-carrier and OFDM transmissions have a relatively lower value of PAPR than FDRM system. Since the PAPR value in OFDM is already fairly high, further research is required for PAPR reduction in FDRM systems to ensure reliability and feasibility of FDRM techniques.
