Abstract
In the GSM/EDGE mobile communication system, if the receiving mobile station direct converts the RF signal to the baseband signal, DC offset will be generated and should be taken care of. Channel taps and DC offset can be estimated jointly based on the training sequence codes (TSCs). This paper presents the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for jointly estimated channel taps and DC offset based on the TSCs in GSM/EDGE system. It provides a benchmark against which we can compare the performance of any unbiased estimator and shows that different TSCs in GSM/EDGE system have different impacts on the estimation error.
