Abstract :
China audio video standardization (AVS) workgroup issued call for proposal on high quality audio/video coding in August 2002 to make China national audio/video standard to meet the requirements from kinds of applications such as high-resolution digital broadcasting, high-density laser storage, wireless multimedia communication/streaming/messaging, and Internet multimedia streaming. In response to this call for proposal, context-dependent bitplane coding (CBC) was proposed and adopted as entropy coding scheme for China AVS audio. In this paper, CBC and its performance in China AVS audio are introduced.
