Abstract
The Kohlrausch behaviour in dielectrics can either be due to a material-related distribution of independent relaxation times, i.e. a static distribution, or it results from the electrical dipole-dipole interaction with process-dependent relaxation times, i.e. a dynamic distribution. The so-called field reversal experiment for the polarisation shows whether the particular system provides a static distribution of relaxation times or whether it is governed by dipolar interaction. The effect of the field reversal is shown for both computer simulations of interacting dipoles and measurements of oxide dielectrics like Al2O3 and SiO2.
