Abstract :
A system for image sequence coding utilizing differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) with 3-D median-based predictors is introduced. The basic ideas of the prediction system are discussed with respect to motion content of the picture, and a simple adaptation due to motion data was built. Simulation results are presented both for interlace scanned and progressively scanned sequences. The simulator used three frame memories. Experiments were conducted over two test sequences, with and without a quantizer
