Abstract :
Insulation components based on synthetic resin bonded paper (SRBP) are subject to significant change in their dielectric behaviour as a function of uptake in moisture and oil, as well as temperature. The dielectric relaxation response and dc conductivity in SRBP systems is compared for samples with varying concentrations of absorbed oil and moisture. Changes in the dielectric relaxation times for the material are compared and discussed with reference to the underlying thermodynamic processes. The molar enthalpy, and entropy are calculated, as is the molar Gibbs free energy of the systems. The use of the compensation law for the activation of the dipolar relaxation responses in SRBP is then considered.
