Abstract :
Boilers BLEVE are among the most devastating accidents likely in chemical process industry, which lead to shock waves and rocketing fragments of ruptured vessels. The prediction of the boiler explosion energy and its impact is fairly helpful to the prevention and protection of accidents. Phast software is used for the quantitative assessment of a boiler BLEVE consequence through the build-up of pertinent model in the paper, which affords the results in the form of simulation charts and reports with the boiler explosion energy, blast-wave overpressure and its effect radius, and positive phase impulse as well. Contrast to the traditional adiabat algorithm, the outcome can provide the overall analysis for the prediction of such accidents more accurately, and they also give some reference to classify and take corresponding safety measures to administer boilers.
