Abstract
The energy transfer behavior of Buck-Boost converters is analyzed, according to the minimum inductor-current in the turn-off period of the power switch the energy transfer modes of Buck-Boost converters can be classified into two types, i.e, complete inductor supply mode (CISM) and incomplete inductor supply mode (IISM). The critical condition and critical inductance of CISM and IISM are obtained. Comparing the minimum inductor-current with zero and output current, it is pointed out that a Buck-Boost converter has three operating modes, they are the complete inductor supply mode as well as continuous conduction mode (CISM-CCM), the incomplete inductor supply mode as well as continuous conduction mode (IISM-CCM) and the incomplete inductor supply mode as well as discontinuous conduction mode (IISM-DCM). The experiment results are in positive to the analysis.
