Abstract
In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is proposed. It employs star topology. To reduce the power consumption of each sensor node and meanwhile to lengthen its life-span, we use the STOP mode, only a very low power transmitter is used to monitor the channel when the sensor node is NOT waken up and the sensor node is waken up periodically. Furthermore, the security and reliability of the system are greatly improved because of the Cyclic Redundancy Check and the encryption algorithm´s application.
