Abstract :
A channel assignment scheme is presented to address the call handover problem in the extended cell system of radio over fiber. It is based on an approach of the adaptive pre reserved area, the size of which should be adaptively regulated with the velocity of mobile station itself. An M/M/C model is developed to analyze the channel assignment scheme of the adaptive pre-reserved area and the fixed pre-reserved area for the linear radio over fiber system. Numerical results show that the performance of handover call dropping probability for the adaptive scheme outperforms that for fixed one along with the MS speed ranging from 1 m/s to 30 m/s.
